Who We Are

Suburban Capital is an active hotel developer and asset management firm. The company was founded in 1999 with the opening of its first self-storage facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. Over its 25-year history, the company has been an investor and operator in a multitude of real estate asset classes, including industrial, multi-family, retail, and self-storage. After the merger of Afton Hospitality in 2015 and a series of divestitures, the company solely focuses on the development of nationally-franchised hotels in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States.

Suburban Capital traces its roots and core business philosophy to its initial holding of Suburban Park Shopping Center in the Wards Corner community of Norfolk, Virginia. The owners and patrons of the original 15 Barbers Shop, located in the heart of the shopping center, believed in hard work, a strong sense of family and community, and the importance of integrity.
